Assignment #1

• Log into your www.newsela.com account
  • If you did not create one, go to www.newsela.com and sign up. The class code needed is YQLIH
• Go to your BINDER (found at the top of the page)
• This will give you access to your reading assignment for today
• Read the article--You can adjust the text level to what is best for you
• Then fill out this form to answer some questions about the article

• This assignment can be found in your Google Classroom--Graphic Warnings
  • When you are done, all you need to do is hit TURN IN at the top of the document and it will be submitted directly to me for grading.
  • Make sure your answers are complete

Assignment #3--Thursday, September 25th--CANCELLED DUE TO TECH ISSUES

Assignment #4--Assigned Friday, Sept 26th

• You are going to create an Animoto Video using the account we set up in class.
• Your Video must contain:
  • Your name
  • 3 Alcohol or Tobacco ads (any combination of them)
  • You must insert the image of the ad from the R Drive to the video
  • Answer these questions for each ad:
    • Who is the author?
    • Who is the audience?
    • What is the purpose of the advertisement?
    • What techniques were used to get your attention
    • What glamour code(s) is being used to sell the product? Name the code and explain how it is being used?
      • ENGLISH CONNECTION: The Glamour Code used is a lot like the TONE an author uses
  • Pick one of the advertisements to focus on. If this were going to be an Adbuster, how would you change the images, text, (or both) to make it an Adbuster (spoof ad)? What would it look like or what would it say?
  • You can add transitions and music if you would like
  • I will let you know how to turn it in on Monday
